X-Factor Judge Simon Cowell is her new manager and mentor, he is reported to be very excited about Leona’s future and thinks she could be the biggest UK artist ever!

Leona Lewis made a substantial impact on British culture when she became the first woman to win on The X Factor, Simon Cowell’s UK version of American Idol. Leona’s debut single, “A Moment Like This,” broke records when it was downloaded 50,000 times in 30 minutes. The single also maintained the No. 1 position for four weeks on the UK Singles Chart.

Leona Lewis has an astounding vocal range that has been compared to legends like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Simon Cowell has said that what makes her so special is her down-to-earth persona. The beautiful, talented and humble Leona Lewis embodies many of the ideal qualities we look for in women.
Prior to her success on The X Factor, Leona Lewis paid her dues by working as a receptionist and a Pizza Hut waitress while she recorded a full-length album, which remains unreleased.

Leona Lewis’ success as a singer hardly comes as a surprise to those who know her, as she has been pursuing a career in music for most of her life. Leona Lewis wrote her first song when she was 12 and won in an under-18 competition the following year. She subsequently attended two highly regarded stage schools, the Sylvia Young Theatre School and the BRIT School.

Leona Lewis’ increased confidence — coupled with the encouragement of family and friends — led her to audition for The X Factor. The British program essentially follows the same formula as American Idol: Participants perform in front of three judges (Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louise Walsh) until a winner is chosen.

Leona Lewis was considered an early favorite by fans and pundits alike, and she consistently knocked the judges out with her stirring renditions of popular songs like “I Will Always Love You” and “Over the Rainbow.” On December 16, 2006, Leona Lewis, with approximately 60% of the votes, was crowned the third-season winner of The X Factor.

A few days after her victory, Leona’s first single — a cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This” — was released to stores and online music shops, and it shot straight to No. 1. In early 2007, at about the same time her single was short-listed for an honor at the 2007 Brit Awards, Leona Lewis relocated to Los Angeles to begin work on her highly anticipated debut album, which will be released in March 2007.

Leona set to storm America!

Yesterday Leona received a big vote of confidence from one of the American Idol judges Randy Jackson, speaking at a Q&A session he expressed his wish to sign her and said he thinks she will be big in America and everywhere else! It seems Leona can do no wrong at the moment, some of the UK’s biggest names have failed to make it in America, so if she pulls it off it would be an amazing feet for someone so new in the industry.

Keep it up Leona!

Since Leona’s X-Factor win she has taken a break in Dubai and is now out in the Los Angeles with Simon Cowell being shown off to music industry leaders.

Apparently Simon has arranged a small concert in L.A. for Leona to showcase her talents to the industry bigwigs.

It seems obvious that Simon intends Leona to be not just a UK success but an international star.

Simon Cowell has defended Leona Lewis absence from the charts since she won The X Factor last year.

Leona who is 22 years old has been putting her debut album together with several high profile US producers which include Mariah Carey’s long term collaborator Walter Afanasieff since she won the TV show.

Simon has said that Leona’s LP will be worth the wait he said that “We’ve spent ten months in a recording studio with Leona in LA and England he went on to say that this album, in my opinion, is as good as early Whitney, early Mariah. I think it is a stunning record.

Louis Walsh added “It’s like early Mariah Carey. I think Leona’s the best female star from the UK in maybe 20 years.”

I must admit that she is a fantastic singer and I think that she will do very well in America as well as the UK.

What do you think will you be buying her album when it is released?
