X FACTOR FAVOURITES

Steve Brookstein The X Factor’s 2004 winner, a former pub crooner, had a number one single and album. Eight months after the contest, he was dropped by his label. This summer, Brookstein performed on the P&O Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry.

G4 X Factor 2004’s clean-cut, classically trained opera buskers ought to have sunk without trace. But they signed a £1 million record deal with Sony BMG and their debut album went double platinum. After two further albums and three world tours, the group split up earlier this year.

Shayne Ward His first single, That’s My Goal, was 2005’s Christmas number one, and after a few more hits the Mancunian singer published his autobiography at the age of 21. His latest song, No U Hang Up, is number two in the charts.

Ray Quinn Last year’s pint-sized Rat-Packer kicked off his month-long UK tour last night in Manchester. He has been offered a £100,000 deal to advertise Wella hair products.

Leona Lewis The X Factor 2006 winner sold more than a million copies of her first single, A Moment Like This, and has been hidden away in California recording her debut album, which is due out next month. Not bad for a former Pizza Hut waitress.
