Simon took responsibility for his discovery in Leona Lewis, by not rushing into the studio with less than the best behind her. “We could have rushed out a record in three months. It would have probably done a million. But you cannot make an incredible record with original material in less than a year. So when everyone was saying ‘What happened to Leona?’ we said, ‘We are making the record we said we’d make.”
