Dear Chrissy,
In your article in the Sunday Times:
Just because you tell us the game Leona Lewis is playing, and saying she invited more people than yourself, this only means that they were window dressing or collateral expenses to get the big fish. You, Chrissy and the Sunday Times, are a big fish.
Chrissy, starts out by telling us how she was bribed:
We are packed into the ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental hotel, a crowd of music-industry luminaries and media. We are drinking champagne and eating canapes, beef wellington and lobster ravioli. Later, we will be given a gift pack with an MP3 player and a candle scented with geranium, West Indian bay and myrrh, a smell that Leona apparently likes. It’s a better gift bag than the one Elton John gave at the Oscar party.
The Hollywood production that you attended, was green lighted by Clive Davis to spare no expenses. (thats exactly what happened. no expenses were spared.)
You say that everyone there, was won over by the extreme karaoke she sang before singing her own song at the end. You also said she had people planted in the crowd, for emotion, or loyal fans like her mother crying or her X factor singing coach Yvie Burnett.
Yes, Chrissy we know that if you get the love of Clive Davis, that he will also throw the best idol makers in the business at you. Starting with producers and song writers. (although there is nothing wrong with Cathy Dennis, if you only want the UK market)
You said that Clive Davis bought her the world’s best pop producers and songwriters. She worked with Dallas Austin in Atlanta; Soulshock and Karlin, Jam and Lewis in Los Angeles; Walter Afanasieff and Salaam Remi in Miami; Steve Mac in London. These producers have worked with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Michael and Janet Jackson, TLC, Destiny’s Child, Usher, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
The biggest part of Leona Lewis receiving the Love of Clive Davis, must go to Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell, who can really deliver a star in the making with their contract with Clive Davis who specializes in idol making. Look at that fat slob kelly clarkson, before Clive Davis put her through the star making machine. Now that was a much bigger feat then Leona Lewis, if you ask me. If Leona Learns anything from Kelly, it should be to let Clive’s people write the songs and make the hits, and don’t think you can do better. (re: Kelly had to cancel her tour, because people were not buying tickets, and Kelly’s last album tanked because she tried to do it her way) The lesson is, don’t upset Clive Davis.
Chrissy, before we hear about your interview, you revealed the following about Leona Lewis: “She has had media training. A media trainer I met said he trained people by asking them the hardest questions.”
Chrissy, I liked that you asked Leona about that issue, and what you got her to admit:
“Musically, I have very strong opinions and my management listen to me. I’m not going to do anything I’m not comfortable with because it will come across.”
“I hope I will also be allowed artistic freedom.”
Leona, apparently did not learn the lesson of Kelly Clarkson, if you read between the lines of what she said. It sounded like she is going to fight for control of her career when she said:
“I don’t take anything for granted. I don’t want to worry about what is going to happen. This could be my last week.”
Leona can always crawl back to Simon Cowell and his Syco, the record label that he runs within Sony BMG. Cathy Dennis can write a few hits, and you will still be a star.
Chrissy you also revealed to us, a “how to” plan an event in Hollywood, when you revealed that this was a music launch event, but was set up to sell magazines, when you revealed the event was sponsored and heavily paid for by Harpers Bazaar.
Will Leona and Clive be in all editions, or only the British version?
But how to make a plain girl into a glam girl, without her actually wearing designer clothing? Well if they hire a stylist, and fill the room with designer clothing, that the reporters have to climb over to do their interview, it looks like she was transformed.
“We are in a hotel suite in Westwood, Los Angeles, where one room is taken up with shoes: Jimmy Choos and Christian Louboutins, in preparation for the shoot. Leona’s favourite thing is to wear no shoes. She likes to feel the earth beneath her feet. She may not even wear them. In the other rooms there are rows of gorgeous dresses: Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli.”
Chrissy, takes time to interview, or at least read the resume of the stylist:
“Her stylist is Alison Edmond, who has worked with British Vogue, American Harper’s Bazaar and now British Harper’s. Alison has a distinctive look. Most recently, Alison has worked with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Naomi Watts and Cate Blanchett.”
Does this make her anymore fashion magazine worthy, then before?
Chrissy, you also eluded to the fact that the x factor might be fixed, when you reported:
Did Leona’s contract immediately require her to keep quiet about the plans that were decided even before she won the x factor? How could she tell the 3am Girls that even if she did not win, she received a better offer than the other potential winners. Would that mean the show is fixed? Did the winning contract require hiding Leona, until her makeover? Was the image to bland for photo opportunities? Was this diva in training starting early to pick and choose when people took her image on film?
Thank you Chrissy, for letting us know that Leona is well grounded, when you asked how she plans on dealing with her fame and being compared to mega stars who have already made it, but have also crashed and burned.
“I do know that I have all my family and my friends around me. I’ll be true to myself and not get taken away by all the other stuff.”
The reality is, that she has a team of professional star makers around her at all times. Chrissy described the team as: “Anne-Marie Thomson, the head of media for Syco, Simon Cowell’s production company, says that she felt it was key to have a team of the right people around Leona. “People who allow her to feel herself and feel comfortable. To have people around her who believe in her. Not just experts but people who care about her.”
The problem that these people who are around Leona will face in the future, is they will be given official titles like personal manager, personal assistant, and they will be getting paid. Once they start to get paid for being around her, Leona will lose the feelings for them that she has now. She will lose the people who grounded her. Everyone changes, and money does change people. It might be better to have the professionals with many years experience, because at least you know that they will not change.
On drugs, alcohol and addictions:
She can’t perk herself up with caffeine, she doesn’t drink coffee – or alcohol, for that matter.
On sex:
“I have never had a facial or a massage because I don’t like people touching me.”
On eating habits:
“She has been a vegetarian since she was 12 and equated sausage with pig. “I stopped eating meat; got really ill because I didn’t know what else to eat. The process of killing animals is cruel. That’s my belief. I don’t push it on anyone else.
On Clothing:
“It would be nice if people could have the option of not buying something that’s leather.”
I am vegetarian, so I don’t have clothes, shoes or bags made from leather or suede or any animal products. Shoes are hard to find. These are fake Uggs. And I’ve got a pair of vintage boots, which are PVC.
Leona still thinks like a girl who has no money to buy the more expensive designers:
“I love Stella McCartney. But she’s very expensive.”
Leona wants to be in the fashion business:
“I’m on a mission. I would love to promote a line of non-leather bags and shoes that are affordable. I think more needs to be available and not as expensive.”
“Leona has no concept of environmental issues as she wants all man made materials, and nothing natural, to ever touch her body.” - how long will that thinking last?
On diamonds:
“I have nothing bling about me. I stay away from diamonds – you don’t know where they’ve come from.”
{Leona, you should count how many pages are filled with people wearing diamonds, advertisements for diamonds, and that all fashion magazines depend on the advertising money of the diamond business to stay in business.}
On buying several homes around the world:
“She still lives in Hackney, east London, with her parents”
What about the rumours that she bought a home in LA?
On buying Automobiles:
“She has treated herself to a black Mini.”
Did she pay for it, or did she receive it for all the promotional consideration the company will receive with Leona Lewis photographed behind the wheel?
Isn’t it crazy for her to be driving herself? Even if she does not drink or do drugs?
How long will it take to change all these things about her? With her supposed £5m deal from the UK and US, you should add to that the millions she will receive from endorsements, and other lucrative business deals that will arise.
You should bookmark this article by Chrissy or this post on the x factor fan site, because in the near future you will not recognize this as the Leona Lewis who once was.
